WHY IT HAPPENS
Domains renew yearly. The renewal email goes to spam, the card on file expired, the person who set it up moved on — and nobody notices until a customer says something.

Customers who click your site get a full-page red warning instead of your business. Most assume you've been hacked and hit the back button.
WHY IT HAPPENS
Every site has a security certificate that expires on a schedule. If nobody's watching, it lapses silently — the site is fine, but browsers block the door.

Nothing — that's the problem. The site just isn't there anymore, and you find out weeks later when someone mentions it.
WHY IT HAPPENS
A hosting bill fails, a server hiccups, a provider changes something. Sites don't send you a text when they die.
COVERED — Uptime monitoring pings the site around the clock. If it goes down at 2 AM, I know at 2 AM — usually before a single customer notices.

The site that looked perfect last month suddenly has text overlapping photos, or a menu you can't tap — but only on phones.

Apple and Google update their browsers constantly. A site that's not maintained slowly drifts out of step — and most of your visitors are on phones.

You think it's a slow month. Actually people ARE writing — the messages just vanish. They think you're ignoring them.
WHY IT HAPPENS
Email providers change their rules regularly (Gmail did in 2024). A form that worked for years can stop delivering overnight, with no error shown to anyone.

Your hours change — but the internet's version doesn't

A one-star review: "Google said they were open. Drove across town. Closed." Holiday hours, a new price, a stylist who left — the internet remembers the old version.

Your info lives in several places: the website, Google Maps, listings. Each one needs updating, and it's nobody's job — so it doesn't happen.

WHAT YOU'D SEE
The button is still there, but clicking it gives an error. Customers don't call to tell you — they just book with someone else.
WHY IT HAPPENS
Booking and ordering tools (Square, Booksy, DoorDash…) change their links and embed codes when they update their systems. Your site keeps pointing at the old one.
COVERED — Integrations get checked and re-linked when the tools behind them change.

The site slowly gets slow
WHAT YOU'D SEE
It takes 8–10 seconds to load on phone data. People leave before they ever see it — you never know they visited.
WHY IT HAPPENS
A year of photos, menus and updates piles up. Images get uploaded full-size. Nothing is 'broken,' it's just heavy.
COVERED — Periodic speed checkups — compressing images and clearing dead weight so it stays instant.

The break-in (rare, but real)
WHAT YOU'D SEE
Your site shows spam, weird ads, or a hacker's message. Google flags it as dangerous and warns people away — which can take weeks to undo.
WHY IT HAPPENS
Out-of-date website software is how most small-business sites get hit. Attacks are automated; they don't care how small the business is.
COVERED — Software patched as updates come out, plus automatic backups — worst case, I restore a clean copy in about an hour instead of rebuilding from scratch.
